An Innovative Photovoltaic Luminescent Solar Concentrator Window: Energy and Environmental Aspects

Over the years, different types of smart windows have been tested and developed. In this study, an innovative prototype a photovoltaic window, that integrates luminescent solar concentrators, was analysed. The device independently regulates movement shading system allows energy surplus, through electricity generated by modules. Considering peculiar structure (characterized presence light shelf) thermal characteristics device, analyses focused on optical, thermal, electrical performances, comparing them with those traditional window. analysis followed experimental approach involved lighting monitoring studies in real test room, to create validated models for conducting simulations larger buildings. results were expressed study illuminance maps, generation obtainable from integrated technology terms savings. Energy accounts around 10 Wh/month, up 50% improvement perspective use heating cooling. proves effective allowing efficient overall performances while generating enough operate window control systems.
